The first day of 2017 almost at an end. For the first day of the year, and a Sunday at that; today has been a very busy day. Spent the day sorting wool/yarn out and getting rid of unwanted wool/yarn (its in a bag ready for when my auntie visits) with my mum.
When we finally finished around 4 o’clock after starting at about 1pm. I was cleaning up and during the entire time cleaning, Gizmo (pictured above) was following me around meowing her head off; demanding her food/tea. I managed to capture a picture of Gizmo standing on our coffee table just before she started meowing.
This starts my new years resolution of taking a picture everyday. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this New Years resolution
With having some many cats in the house, throughout the years. My family and I have only ever had to deal with 4 litters of kittens in the last 11 to 12 years. The first two litters was around the 10 to eleven years ago, we had a female cat that got caught twice. Out of the two litters we only kept 2 of the kittens, that has since passed away due to being killed on the road. After the second litter the mother went wild and we had to re-home her onto a farm.
The other two litters, we have had to deal with was last year. When both of our female kittens due to be neutered, went into heat and we did not know that the Male ginger cat Charlie was not fixed. Charlie caught both of them.
We were worried about Munchkin more than Sally during the pregnancy as she was a small cat with a thin build. But Munchkin surprised us all when she gave birth with no problem, she even purred through the entire birth.
Where as Sally, we did not worry too much because she was a big cat, but she struggled with the first two kittens because they were in the same sack. We had to help Sally ease Gizmo and Amelia out of Sally and help them to start breathing as Sally did not want to go near the two female kittens at first.
Sally had two more male kittens one was Harry and the other was Spock: who did not make it past two weeks of age before passing. Which is a blessing for him because he was not growing and he had disabilities. His legs were not developed, and I know cats with disabilities can live normal lives, Spock would have been in and out of vets for most of his life if he had lived. But we did not want to that to Spock, because we vowed when we starting homing cats, is to not put a cat through unnecessary ordeals, which it would have been for Spock. So we did what we could for Spock and said that if he lives we would do all we could but if he passed, he was not meant to survive.
Munchkin and Sally’s kittens were born within two weeks of each other and are now over a year old and causing mayhem around the house. Although for the past two-week, 11 of the 16 cats have been suffering with a summer cold that we have dealt with. The cats loved it a little because it meant they got extra pouches and cat milk to help keep them hydrated, but they hate the sneezing they had.
Sally does not have much to do with her kittens now except for when Amelia and Harry and demanding she clean their fur. Munchkin hates the fact that her kittens are independent, Munchkin several times a day picks up a toy in her mouth. Walks around the house meowing her head off, calling the her kittens so she knows where they are. If Munchkin was still able to feed the her kittens, she would still be doing it now.
Day 16 asks about something I miss and the only thing I can think of that I miss, is my cats that have passed away over the years, either from old age, run over or having to be put to sleep.
As my family and I are big animal lovers, we always have animals in the home, as you may know from previous posts. So over the years we have had a number of cats that have passed away, 6 cats lost to the road, 7 cats to old age and 1 cat had to be put to sleep and we lost a kitten at 2 weeks because he didn’t develop properly.
Each and every time we have lost a cat its just as hard to copy, and people say that its just a cat, there is no need to get so worked up about it. But the animals that we take into our home become part of the family so much so that they have the run of the house to a large extent. We are constantly buying toys and treats for the cats.
So when one of the cats passes away its like having a piece of your heart ripped away and no matter how much time passes by, I still miss them and I always think about them remembering, their personalities and their individual kirks that they had.
Some of the pain from the cats passing away have dulled over years, as some of the cats passed away over five or so years ago, but some pains are still fairly fresh as Betty only passed away this year. So, yes my cats are the thing that I miss the most.
Day 14 of the challenge asks about my favorite movies that I can watch over and over again without getting bored with them. There are loads of movies that I am able to watch, that if I sat and wrote them all down this post would become very long.
There are five movies series that I am able to watch am able to watch: Transformers Series, Harry Potter Series, James Bond (but only the films with Daniel Craig), Die Hard Series and The Expendable. These five series are among my favorite because they are very action heavy with little to do in regards to romance because although I enjoy a good romance film, I much prefer a good action film to get the blood and adrenaline going.
At one point I watch the first Transformers film three times in one day and as I said in my previous blog post, my family and I watch the complete Harry Potter series once a year at least. This happens as well with the Die Hard and the Expendables series as these film series are the type of films that do not grow boring after so many viewing.
But there is individual films that I am able to watch and they are: Labyrinth, Calamity Jane, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I watched these three films when I was a little girl, that whenever I watch them now it always takes me back to my younger years.
These three films still hold their magic for my because I think that there is rarely any films of their genre made the way they are. I know Labyrinth is fantasy film and fantasy films are still being made today they just don’t hold the same appeal as older fantasy films do for me.
Western Films are very rarely made these days and they are only made when some other type of genre is mixed in with the western genre. I think the reason I like these two films so much is because they had strong female leads that were not willing to give in too much with men.
Calamity Jane is one of my all time favorite films, so much in fact that I name one of my kittens Calamity Jane after the female lead in the Western Musical. These three films are also in their own way a musical film; the musical genre is on of my favorite genres to watch.
Day 10 of the 30 day challenge asks about something I feel strongly about and the first think that popped into my head was animal cruelty. I detest people who are cruel to animals, whether it is more forth right cruelty, to people simply ignoring their animals.
Because to me if your going to have pet, you should out the effort into looking after the animal. As the animal has feeling and can tell when something is not right with a situation, this I know from experience as one of our cats is a rescue and you get tell just from looking and feeling her ribs that she has been abused, it took Poppy over a year to truly settle with us and she will not let you pick her up with an arm underneath her butt as she doesn’t feel safe without it.
You read all these stories on the internet about situations and conditions that animals are found in, that has been caused by people who just don’t care about the animals. This annoys me as I think what has the animals done to you, as I think animals are only as bad as their owners, as animals follow their owner when it comes to their behavior pattern. If an owner is indifferent to the animal; the animal is indifferent to everything, if an owner is affectionate; the animal is affectionate as well.
